Special Notes about Japanese Red Maples:
All of our Japanese Red Maples have been grafted for a more robust tree altogether. We use a Japanese Green Maple rootstock to encourage the overall Maple bonsai tree to be more disease resistant and have a longer lifespan.
If you receive one and you notice green leaves close to the base of the trunk, please remove them to redirect the tree’s growth hormones to flow to the top of the tree. This will stimulate the tree to produce more of the red leaves that you desire within several weeks during the spring and summer months.

Japanese Maples are a traditional favorite for bonsai lovers all over the world. With their dynamic visual differences every season, it's always something new to look at with maples. Especially their famous colorful transitions as they shed their soft foliage during the fall months. They do that to get ready to hibernate for the winter since all maples are deciduous trees.

'Bloodgood' is probably within the top five of the most beloved varieties of Japanese Red Maples for bonsai and landscaping lovers. They develop burgundy-red leaves in spring that turn to deep burgundy purple-red in summer. Finally the foliage transitions into a flaming bright red color in fall before they drop their leaves for winter hibernation. During the winter, they have an interesting red-black bark that provides striking visual interest even when it has barren branches. This tree provides entertainment for the eyes all year round!

'Bloodgood' is a hardier variety of maple as it better tolerates hotter climates more than your average maple bonsai tree. However, due to its soft thin leaves and small size to be enjoyed as bonsai, please be cautious and provide some shade to avoid any leaf burn throughout the year. When maples are kept small, they are much more sensitive to their environments than their large yard tree counterparts.

Note that all pre-bonsai trees will come in a plastic nursery growing pot.

For Deciduous Trees:
Please note that during the mid to late fall months, deciduous trees will lose all of their leaves/foliage to go into dormancy for winter. They will have barren branches and will be extra sensitive to shipping stress during mid-fall and all of winter. If we try to ship them during this dormancy time, it is considered extremely high risk. We reserve the right to refuse to take orders for these trees during their dormancy period from around October to February.

PLEASE NOTE:
The following pictures are general images of each species. Each tree looks slightly different due to the shape, trimming and season of the year. If you want a particular tree as exactly pictured, please go to our eBay store.

House of Bonsai reserves the right to delay on shipping any live plant order by several days; in order to attempt to decrease the high risk of major shipping related stress that may shock the plants during extreme weather conditions (too hot or cold). If we are purposely delaying your order because of this, we will notify you via email. Before you submit an order, please be mindful of your local weather and time of year. If there is major damage (ex: plant is dead or many branches are broken), please contact your third party shipping carrier (ex: USPS, FedEx, UPS) to submit an insurance claim with them as we are not able to assist with that matter. The fault is with the third party shipping carrier for such damage since it happened out of our hands. We are not responsible for any damages after the order leaves our facility since they were out of our control. If the bonsai tree is still alive but weakened due to shock (leaves are yellow-brownish or leaves have fallen off) then we are happy to assist in proving post-delivery plant shock care instructions via email to revive the plant. Please notify us by email of the issue within 48 hours upon receiving the order in hand. Please email us at houseofbonsai@gmail.com with your Order # and the keywords "Shock After Delivery" in the title so we can assist ASAP. For further details, please read our full "Shipping & Return Policy" under About Us in our top menu.
