The Thoweil Hinoki Cypress will make a great small-sized bonsai in your collection! Its deep-green scalloped foliage grows very slowly. It grows an average of 3 to 6 inches per year! The tree naturally develops into a narrow upright growth with irregular branching. This dwarf-like habit makes it a fun choice to work with on making a shohin or mame bonsai.
This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the mid 2010s by Iseli Nursery located in Boring, Oregon, USA. It's recognized in the American Conifer Society's (ACS) database. The cultivar name is an anagram, coined by ACS Founder, Eddie Rezek, honoring two noted Dutch plantsmen, Thom de Lange and Wiel Linssen (note the ironic misspelling).
This pre-bonsai tree's small size makes it great for use as a starter pre-bonsai or shohin & mame bonsai shapes. It also makes for a wonderful miniature plant choice for fairy gardens, terrariums, etc. It will come in a 4 inch nursery growing plastic pot.
