This easy to care for attractive tree keeps its small pointed dark green leaves all year round and creates an abundant amount of tiny white flowers throughout the year. They will keep blossoming for a majority of the year and has a subtle fresh scent to them. The flowers develop into tiny non-edible red ornamental berries. Its light brown bark is mottled with darker brown bark spots; almost like leopard fur. The bark has a rough texture with its many small knobs and bumps on it. It's also called the "Philippine Tea Tree " or "Fujian Tea Tree". It's a very popular variety to be used as an indoor bonsai.
For this large size of Chinese Tea Tree, it was originally imported from Asia to our bonsai nursery in The United States. However we've taken the time to continue its branch development to increase its beauty for your enjoyment. This species occurs widely in eastern and south-eastern Asia from India, Indochina, southern China, Taiwan and Japan, through Malesia, including the Australian territory of Christmas Island, reaching New Guinea, mainland Australia at the Cape York Peninsula, and the Solomon Islands.
