This is a great easy choice for beginner to bonsai experts. Its heat and drought tolerant quality makes it forgiving to the occasional forgotten watering on hot days. Their branches are naturally quite flexible; making it a great choice for many different styles and shapes in the future. They're known to have lots of visual interest all throughout the year!

Firethorn gets its common name from its long, sharp thorns that run along the stems. It's also known as the Scarlet Firethorn or Teton Firethorn. 'Teton' Pyracantha has a distinct vertical growth habit that produces a narrow tapered look without pruning. They have delicate dark green leaves that get covered in little white flower bunches in the spring and summer which mature into abundant yellow-orange ornamental berries in late August and persist into winter. Sometimes you'll notice the berries turn into a red-orange color when grown in the northwestern U.S.

This tree's small size makes it great for use as a starter pre-bonsai or shohin & mame bonsai shapes. It will come in a 4 inch square nursery growing plastic pot.
